Houdini Lighting TD

Houdini Lighting TDs are responsible for creating lit environments and elements, including placing key lights, creating shadows, etc. for both live action integration and fully CG images. Houdini Lighting TDs work in these general areas: environment simulation, material property/shader specification, light position and color, and compositing (both as a means of lighting and the combining of scene elements). The current openings are freelance positions for feature film projects.

Lighting TDs are responsible for creating lit environments and elements, including placing key lights, creating shadows, etc. for both live action integration and fully CG images. Lighting TDs work in these general areas: texture coordinate application (including fur application and perspective texture application), texture map painting, material property/shader specification, and compositing (both as a means of lighting and the combining of scene elements). The current openings are freelance positions for feature film projects.

Mantra Prelighting TDs are responsible for creating Lookdev assets ranging from simple hard surface props to complex furred characters. A Prelighter works with multiple disciplines, both upstream and downstream, including Modeling, Texturing, Rigging, Technical Animation, Lighting and Compositing. The Lookdev assets passed downstream are expected to render efficiently and cleanly across multiple lighting environments.

Senior Houdini FX TD

Effects TDs create visuals to represent natural phenomenon (e.g., fire, water, smoke, clouds, and bubbles) and anything else extraordinary. These effects employ the use of particle systems, deformations, blobbies, flocking, dynamics, rendering, compositing, shader writing, scripting, other procedural techniques.

This is an entry-level production position that performs general technical support tasks for feature films (VFX) and commercials. It provides an opportunity to gain exposure to the Rhythm & Hues production pipeline. Applicants need to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging production environment. Problem investigation and resolution skills are a must. Experience with CG concepts and 2D/3D software applications is beneficial but not required.
